The Halloween 'Who took the candy?' game.

The Halloween 'Who took the candy?' game.

Subject

Halloween

Richard’s comments.

Simple but flexible game for preschool or younger.

Group size:

Any group size if you double up on cards.

Team teaching game?

It is always good to have support with younger students.

Materials

Halloween monster focus cards.
‘Not me’ cards.

‘Candy’ card.

Game set up.

Place the focus cards in a circle.

Give each one a ‘not me’ or ‘candy’ card (face down)

Playing rules.

Simply walk around the cards chanting
‘Who took the candy from the trick or treat bag?’
When the teacher says ‘stop’ sit down and touch a card.

Ask the first student.

‘Who took the candy from the trick or treat bag?’

The student checks the card If it says ‘not me’ then the student says “Not me, ask the…”
Ask the chosen student the same question.

When you find the candy, give the student with the candy and the student who suggested the monster a point each.

Variations.

If you are playing with big classes, the teacher will have to select the options to prevent children squabbling over the cards.
