Richard’s
comments. |
A popular game if
you throw yourself into it. Make sure you
get plenty of English into the actual game and importantly, the game play. |
|
Group size: |
Any group size
as long as you have suitable support. |
|
Team teaching
game? |
You really need
someone to watch while you have your back turned. |
|
Materials |
Focus cards. |
|
Game set up. |
Simply go through
the focus cards and identify the actions to be used for each word. Place the focus
cards in front of the teacher. Go through the
actions. |
|
Playing rules. |
Students have
to guess the action and the word that is to be chosen by the teacher. The teacher turns around (Students shout ‘Turn around!’) and says a set phrase like “Happy Halloween” and counts down from five. The students
must line up behind the card the teacher will choose. Once the JT has
checked that everyone is in place we go through the three actions and repeat: “Happy Halloween 1, 2, 3.” Now the teacher
does an action and shouts a word while turning to face the students. Students who
matched win a point. Review once more and repeat. Changing the vocabulary where possible. Repeat as
required. |
|
Variations. |
Works for Christmas
too. There are a
number of other vocabulary sets it would work for. Feelings, colours,
transport and animals being some examples. |
