Any topics. I use it for practicing verb tenses. |
|
Richard’s comments. |
This is one of those games that will work for any
topic. Ideal for a review too. The game takes a while to play properly but you can
get a lot of practice into a game. Better for sentences rather than just vocabulary
probably. |
|
Group size: |
As a board game it is best with groups of up to
eight. |
|
Team teaching game? |
One supervisor should be fine for a class under
control. |
|
Materials |
Time Warp game board. Team tokens. Dice. Questions. |
|
Game set up. |
Play in teams or individually. We begin at the red
planet. You may choose any starting point. |
|
|
Throw a dice and move either way around the planet
answering questions as you go. |
|
Playing rules.
Wormholes. |
Your goal is to move from planet orbit to planet orbit
through the ‘wormholes.’ When you land on a triangle you can move through the
‘wormholes.’ (You move between triangles of the same colour.) |
|
|
If you are lucky, you can jump a planet. |
|
|
First home to their moon base wins. |
|
Elbows out |
If you land to the same
square as an opposing team token, you throw them back one planet. (This kind
of thing is fun for the students) |
|
Variations. |
This is one of those games that will work for any
topic. Stretch your imagination. I have created a Halloween version using
different Haunted houses and I’m sure there are more ideas hiding there. |
