The
card race. |
||
|
Subject. |
Any
topic is fine Just add questions. |
|
|
Richard’s
comments. |
Sometimes
it’s good to just have something a little bit different. (It’s simple and quick to play too which can be
useful if you only have a bit of time to play a game.) I
think it works quite well as a review game. |
|
|
Group
size. |
A
game with four people or four pairs/threes would work fine. You
may want to add cards for an extended game. (Especially
if you play the challenges variation.) |
|
|
Team
teaching game? |
One
supervisor will be fine. |
|
|
Materials. |
Pack
of playing cards. (You may want to add cards
for extended games.) Prepared
questions. Focus
cards. Lucky
dip cards if you are using them. (They
are a bit like ‘Chance cards’ from monopoly.) See
variations. Points
and point ‘bucket’. |
|
|
Game
set up. |
Play
individually or in teams of two or three. Ideally
you want a start line to begin from. |

|
Playing
rules. |
Answer
a question and take a card (You can do
this individually, as a team or all together.) Red cards are laid end to end. At
the end of the game, the most red cards counting from the base line will win. |
|
|
Variations. |
You
could separate the black cards. Clubs become the stop. You have
to put your next card on top of the black card. And
Spades are the same as for the clubs but you get to answer a forfeit
question. Lucky you… |
|
|
As
I mentioned above, for an extended game, I play using lucky dip cards Example cards may be: Miss
a go. Take one/two/three cards. Take away one/two/three cards. Go again. |
||
|
Apply
challenges to individual cards. Let
your imagination run wild. Let
everyone create challenges before the game begins. E.g.
‘A’ Heart = Tell me what day it is today, tomorrow,
yesterday. Diamond = Spell a given day. Club = Say the days of the week while hopping. Spade = Say the days of the week backwards. |
