Basic questions. Anagrams.


   

Game title. Basic questions anagrams game. (An anagram is a word with the letters jumbled.)

Basic questions or other sentence structures.

A little exercise for the beginning of the lesson while students are coming in to class or to fill a small period at the end of a lesson.

 This can also be used as a basis for basic questions practice during the lesson proper.

Group size and level:

Any class size. It is primarily an individual activity but can be used with a small group when practicing basic questions.

Elementary school and upwards.

Team teaching game?

Some of your students may need support.

 

Materials

Prepared basic questions or other sentence structures.

 

I use three levels:

a) Words shuffled. (simple version)

b) Words shuffled and letters in each word shuffled with spaces. (common)

c) Words shuffled and letters in each word shuffled with no spaces. (advanced)

You could have some of each to allow differentiation in class.

 a)        name? your What’s                  words shuffled

b)        Wath’s oyur amne?                  letters in the words shuffled

c)          Wath’soyuramne?                  letters in the words shuffled and no spaces.

Game set up.

Simply place the Anagrams on the board.

Work in pairs or individually depending on the students to answer the question.

 

Playing rules.

Simply solve the anagrams and answer the question.

Variations.

May well work for other short phrases too. 

The ‘anagrams pot’ A pot of subject specific sentence anagrams pre-prepared and dropped in a pot or envelope. Are you ready to take a pot luck.


Possible subject may include:

‘Time.’ (Days, months, time references etc.)

‘Place.’ (Countries, shops, buildings etc.)

‘Activities.’ (Games, hobbies, sports etc.)
