Richard’s
comments. |
Really
simple. Really flexible. What more could you want? Really excellent. |
|
Group
size: |
Classes
of up to about eight should allow everyone to get involved. |
|
Team
teaching game? |
You
should be able to handle this on your own. |
|
Materials |
Phonics strip. A list of letters in order for reference.
|
||
|
Game
set up. |
Go
through the letters and rehearse phonics sounds with the students. Lay
out the alphabet strip for everyone to see. Go
through the vocabulary you are going to use. Identify the first letters,
identify and rehearse the phonics sounds. |
||
|
|
|||
|
Playing
rules. |
The
teacher shuffles the vocabulary cards, lays them out face down and each
student chooses one. Identify
the vocabulary the first letter and its sound. |
|
Each
student identifies the letter position on the vocabulary strip while saying
the vocabulary, the first letter and the letter sound. Nearest
first letter to ‘Z’ wins the game. You can use the ‘ABC song’ instead of the
letter strip. Drawn
rounds go to a second letter. Play
as many rounds as you desire. |
|
|
Variations. |
You
could just play with letters if you want to concentrate on phonics. |
