A
nice little exercise for a few minutes or for a longer individual exercise. It
is a word game that differentiates easily allowing students of different
levels to have a suitable challenge for them. Just adapt the code suitably. |
|
|
Group
size: |
You
may need to support some of your younger or more inexperienced players initially
so bear that in mind. The
class size will depend on the class I suppose. |
|
|
Team
teaching game? |
You
can do this yourself though some support might help if your students are
likely to struggle. |
|
|
Materials |
Be a boy/girl
scout. Pre-prepared exercises. (Words and codes) Have
them graded so they become more challenging as you go. Make sure you throw a
couple of tricky ones in for your ‘star students’ |
|
|
Examples. A = A+1 (The next letter)- ehrg = fish A = A-1 (The letter before)- gjti = fish A=A+? Choose an option of your own. A=1,
B=2, C=3 etc. Replace letters with numbers or even pictograms. |

|
Game
set up. |
Simply
put the questions/words on the board explain the concept (probably with an
example) and go… |
|
|
Playing
rules. |
Just
decipher the coded words to win points. |
|
|
Variations. |
Use
the coded words to make structures. Make
a treasure hunt where the words become the clues to a ‘treasure’. |
