The colour dice matching game.
Subject	Colours and numbers 1-6
Richard’s comments.	Simple game for small students learning numbers and colours with plenty of counting opportunities
Group size:	Small children need plenty of one to one support so don’t have you classes too large. 4-6 should be plenty.
Team teaching game?	As usual with smaller students, the more support the better.
Materials	Dice cards 1-6 in different colours. Six cards (any objects. (I use butterflies.)) in matching colours.
Coloured object cards.  *You could have different object silhouettes each of a different colour.    Dice numbers (coloured)   Number strip for finding numbers.
Game set up.	Simply lay the object cards face down and the dice cards face up. Lay out the number strip.

 

Playing rules.	Two students choose a face down object card. Find the matching colour dice card. Find your number on the number strip. Show the position with a coloured token Highest score wins. Count… a lot.
Variations.	Try it with phonics.
